Burial practices: inhumation and tumulation
When organising the funeral it is possible to choose between burial, interment and cremation services, each with its own distinctive features.
In-ground burial
In-ground burial typically involves the body of the deceased being placed into a casket, which is then pulled down in an excavation and eventually marked by an above-ground memorial tribute.
The grave marker will display birth and death information, as well as any additional epitaphs honoring the deceased.
According to the regulations, the in-ground burial place can be freed only after at least 10 years have passed since the burial.
Interment in a columbarium niche
Interment in a columbarium typically involves the coffin (wooden coffin with an hermetic zinc inner casket) is buried in a concrete loculus.
The loculus may be above ground (columbarium loculus), or underground (underground burial niches and/or family tombs).
According to the regulations, the columbarium can be freed only after 20 years have passed since the burial.
Bureaucratic procedures management
Our staff will take care of all the bureaucratic procedures related to the burial service, such as the request for the authorization to the burial and transport of the deceased. These documents must be forwarded to the Civil Status Officer of the Municipality, not earlier than 24 hours after death.

Your questions, our answers
Yes, even when death occurs in hospital, the body may be transported home after completion of the usual formalities. Preservation and care are recommended, but not mandatory. If the passing away takes place at home, our advice is to entrust it as soon as possible to the custody of a funeral home where the best conditions of maintenance are in place.
Burial consists of placing the coffin containing the body of the deceased under the ground, either directly or in a grave, and possibly placing a memorial over it to mark the grave and turn it into a place dedicated to the memory of the deceased and meditation. Cremation is the burning of the coffin containing the body of the deceased in a crematorium. After cremation, the ashes are collected in an urn, which may be buried or its contents scattered, depending on the family's choice.
